Vienna to Budapest

Today we discover the highlights of Budapest. Our journey begins at Heroes' Square, a UNESCO World Heritage landmark that pays tribute to Hungary’s legendary leaders. We continue to the enchanting Fishermen’s Bastion, a storybook-style lookout offering sweeping views across the city, and the historic Matthias Church, a stunning Roman Catholic treasure. From the heights of Gellért Hill, we admire panoramic vistas of the Danube and the city skyline. We then pass the striking Hungarian Parliament Building, a masterpiece of Neo-Gothic design, before exploring the Royal Palace (Buda Castle), the grand residence of former Hungarian kings and another UNESCO gem. Crossing the iconic Chain Bridge, the first suspension bridge uniting Buda and Pest, we soak in the city’s charm. In the evening, we enjoy a relaxing Danube River cruise, marveling at the illuminated beauty of the river that both divides and connects the two sides of Budapest. The day ends with free time for shopping and strolling along the vibrant Váci Street.

Today we travel to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, a city with more than nine centuries of history. On arrival, we explore the lively Lower Town (Donji Grad), the bustling heart of Zagreb, and see the famous Statue of Ban Jelačić, honoring the Croatian leader known for his role in the 1848 revolutions. Later, we continue our journey to Ljubljana, the charming capital of Slovenia and one of Europe’s smallest yet most picturesque cities. Here, we set out on a guided walking tour that takes us through Prešeren Square, the city’s central gathering spot, the unique Triple Bridge linking the old town with the modern quarter, and the vibrant Central Market. We also see the Town Hall, the historic seat of the city government, and the striking Dragon Bridge, decorated with impressive dragon statues and spanning the Ljubljanica River.

Today we head to Bled, often called the “Alpine Pearl,” famous for its breathtaking lake—the only one in Slovenia with an island. Our visit begins at the Bled Castle, a medieval fortress perched dramatically on a cliff, offering spectacular views over Lake Bled. We then enjoy a ride on a traditional wooden boat known as a Pletna, taking us to the small island at the center of the lake. Here, we explore the elegant Baroque Church of the Assumption, also referred to as the Church of Mary the Queen, dating back to the 17th century. Later, we continue our journey to Graz, the vibrant second-largest city of Austria.

Today we travel to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, often celebrated as the “Beauty on the Danube.” On arrival, we enjoy an orientation tour of the city, beginning with the charming Old Town, known for its cobbled lanes, colorful facades, and narrow passageways. We pass by St. Martin’s Cathedral, a magnificent 15th-century Gothic church that once served as the coronation site of Hungarian kings, and continue to St. Michael’s Tower (Michael’s Gate), the only surviving city gate from the medieval fortifications and one of the city’s oldest landmarks. We then drive across the striking Most SNP, popularly called the UFO Bridge, which spans the River Danube with its futuristic design. Later, we continue our journey to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, famously known as the “City of a Hundred Spires.”

Today we explore the beautiful city of Prague. Our visit begins at the Cathedral of St. Vitus, the city’s Roman Catholic metropolitan cathedral and the seat of the Archbishop of Prague. During our orientation tour, we pass by the grand Hradčany Castle, one of the largest castle complexes in the world, dating back to the 9th century and today serving as the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. We then admire the famous Astronomical Clock, with its fascinating wooden sculptures of the 12 Apostles, and stroll through the lively Old Town Square, the historic heart of Prague. We also see the iconic Charles Bridge, a magnificent Gothic stone bridge spanning the Vltava River to link the Old Town with the Lesser Town. Later, we enjoy a relaxing Vltava River cruise, taking in the spectacular skyline and enchanting views of Prague.

Today we travel to Vienna, the elegant capital of Austria and one of Europe’s most popular cities. On arrival, we visit the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This splendid 18th-century Baroque palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty, is among the country’s most significant cultural and historical landmarks. Later, we take a walking tour through the heart of Vienna, passing some of its most iconic sites, including the grand State Opera House, renowned as one of the world’s leading opera venues; the stately Parliament Building, a neoclassical masterpiece; and the impressive City Hall, a Neo-Gothic landmark that serves as Vienna’s administrative hub. We also see the majestic Hofburg Palace, the former imperial residence of the Habsburgs and now the seat of Austria’s President, the historic Heldenplatz (Heroes’ Square), and the elegant Ringstrasse Boulevard, which encircles Vienna’s historic center.
